The Society of St Paul, Mumbai, joyfully celebrated two significant milestones on 15 July 2026 – the Platinum Jubilee of the foundation of the Society of St Paul in Mumbai and the Silver Jubilee of the Provincial House. The double celebration brought together the members of both the communities in a spirit of thanksgiving, fraternity, and joyful remembrance.
The occasion was graced by the presence of members from the community of Pune, members from the Daughters of St Paul and the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master, along with Pauline Co-operators, making it a Pauline Family celebration.
The festivities commenced with a solemn thanksgiving Holy Eucharist at 6.00 pm in the community chapel. Fr Sunil Varghese, Superior of the community of Mumbai, warmly welcomed the gathering inviting them to thank God for His abundant blessings bestowed upon the Pauline mission in Mumbai over the past 75 years.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Joby Mathew, Provincial Superior. In his homily, Fr Joby invited the assembly to take a look into the past with gratitude recalling the remarkable journey of the Mumbai campus, which now has two communities – the Mumbai community and the Provincial House community. He gratefully recalled all the pioneering members whose sacrifices, hard work and unwavering commitment laid the foundation of the present campus and its flourishing apostolate. He also remembered with gratitude the former provincials, superiors, and all who generously contributed to the growth and development of the campus. Above all, he thanked God for his constant guidance and faithful accompaniment throughout these seventy-five years, enabling the Society to reach this important milestone with renewed hope and missionary zeal.
The liturgy was beautifully enriched by the evergreen choir of both the communities under the able leadership of Br Arockiam, whose inspiring music and hymnody added solemnity and joy to the Eucharistic celebration.
The Holy Mass was followed by a quality time of entertainment and lively recreation programme, animated by Fr Sajith, providing moments of laughter, fraternity and shared memories. The celebration concluded after the fellowship meal in an atmosphere of gratitude to God and renewed commitment to the Pauline mission, cherishing the rich legacy entrusted to all of us.
