On January 25, 2025, the Feast of the Conversion of St Paul, the Pauline Community of Subodha Nilayam celebrated the Ruby Jubilee of the Pauline Presence in Andhra Pradesh. It was on this day, 40 years ago, Most Rev. John Mulagada of happy memory who invited the members of the Society of St Paul to the diocese handed over them the two-fold responsibility of the Diocesan Communication Centre, Subodha Nilayam, and the pastoral care of the city parish dedicated to St Therese of the Child Jesus, the Patroness of the Missions.

Together with the above, the Pauline Communities in Andhra Pradesh also celebrated the Sacerdotal Golden Jubilee of Fr Alfonso Elengikal, who was associated with the Andhra Mission, particularly with the diocese of Eluru, for more than 38 years and is presently the Provincial Delegate of the Community of Eluru.

The two-fold celebration began with the Solemn Concelebrated Eucharist presided over by Most Rev. Dr Jaya Rao Polimera, Bishop of Eluru and the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Visakhapatnam, assisted by Most Rev. Cesare Bonavento, PIME, Bishop Emeritus of Papua New Guinea, and a good number of priests from the vicinity. Over 100 sisters from the different religious communities in the diocese, friends and well-wishers of their communities in Andhra participated in the celebrations.

The holy Eucharist was followed by a brief Felicitation programme in which Fr Joseph Parayil formally welcomed the guests.  Fr George Chathanatt, in his introductory address briefly placed on record a true picture of the Pauline ministry in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the diocese of Eluru.   Most Rev. Dr Bishop Jaya Rao Polimera, the Chief Guest, warmly appreciated and thanked the Paulines for their multifarious media-related activities in Eluru and in other dioceses of Andhra-Telangana region.

The highlight of the programme was the launching of the campaign: “A  New

Testament for Every Person,” the second half of the Alberionian dream. Fr Joby Mathew, the Provincial Superior, flanked by Bishop Jaya Rao and Bishop Cesare Bonavento, launched the campaign by presenting copies of the new edition of the Telugu New Testament to two of the Parish Councillors, President of the Parish Youth group and a staff from the Book Centre, making the event really memorable.
