On January 5, 2025, the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the Society of St. Paul, India, with profound gratitude, gathered to pay homage to the Lord, emulating the devotion of the Magi who brought gifts to the Christ Child. On this blessed day, the Church joyfully welcomed the sacred priestly ordination of Rev. Ningrei Berno Gonmei. The ordination took place during a solemn morning Eucharistic celebration at Assumption Catholic Church, located in the serene village of Dailong under Mary Help of Christians Parish, Tamenglong, Manipur. This momentous occasion was presided over by the Most Rev. Dr. Linus Neli, Archbishop of Imphal Archdiocese. With great reverence, the Archbishop conferred the sacred priesthood upon Rev. Ningrei, imparting a powerful and heartfelt message: “When you celebrate the Eucharist, remember to lay aside yourself and embody Christ. Speak to the people, not as yourself, but as a vessel of God’s grace.” These words of wisdom summarized the essence of priestly life—a call to serve, to sanctify, and to be a living witness of Christ’s love. The joyous celebration saw the presence of the Provincial Superior, Rev. Fr. Joby Mathew SSP, the Formation Director, Fr. Pritvi Philip SSP, priests, a deacon from the Society of St. Paul, and numerous religious sisters and s. Over a thousand faithful, including family, friends, and well-wishers, gathered to witness this significant moment in the life of the Church and the community. The solemnity of the liturgy, adorned with heartfelt prayers, hymns, and the outpouring of blessings, elevated the occasion to a spiritual pinnacle. Following the Eucharistic celebration, the congregation offered a heartfelt thanksgiving to God, expressing their gratitude for the gift of a new priest to the Church. The spirit of joy and unity continued as all gathered for a fellowship meal, sharing not only food but also love, laughter, and the warmth of community. This day will forever be etched in the hearts of the faithful, a testimony to God’s enduring presence in His Church. It is a reminder that, like the wise men who journeyed to worship Christ, we too are called to seek Him, serve Him, and bring His light to the world. May Rev. Ningrei’s ministry bear abundant fruit as he walks humbly in the footsteps of Christ, the eternal High Priest.
