The 18th India-Great Britain-Ireland Provincial Chapter began on 9 November 2021 at Alberione Hall, Bandra Mumbai. In view of the 11th General Chapter, the 18th Provincial Chapter started with a recollection talk given by Fr Dr Frazer Mascarenhas SJ, Parish Priest of St Peters Church who is also the Dean of Bandra deanery. At 11.30 am Fr Provincial presided over the Eucharist and invited all the members to pray for a meaningful fruitful celebration of the provincial Chapter.
The day's second session began at 3.00 pm in the afternoon, presided over by Fr Varghese Gnalian, the Provincial superior of India-Great Britain-Ireland Province. Two members youngest in age, Frs Anish Peediyekal and Sajith Parapallil, were the scrutineers for the election procedures of the Chapter. Fr Joby Manachirackal was elected as the Chapter Secretary and Fr Johnson Vattakunnel was elected as the Moderator for the Chapter. Frs Joshy Thumpakattu and Thomas Mangamthanath were appointed as actuaries for the Chapter.
After the elections and appointments of office bearers of the Chapter, Fr Varghese Gnalian officially declared the 18th Provincial Chapter of the Province opened. In his welcome address, he welcomed all participants and encouraged them to be open to the promptings and guidance of the Holy Spirit. There are 31 participants in the 18th India-Great Britain-Ireland Provincial Chapter celebrated from 9-13 November 2021. The day’s program came to an and at 8.00 pm with the visit to the Blessed Sacrament conducted by Fr Shaiju Vadakkemury.
