It was a celebration of a different kind among the religious circles when the Centenary of the foundation of the “Association of Pauline Co-operators”, was celebrated in Bandra, organised by the Pauline Family. It was in the year 1917 that Blessed James Alberione, the founder of the Pauline Family, began the Association of the Pauline Co-operators to collaborate with the priests and sisters of the Pauline Family in the mission of proclaiming the good news through the modern means of communication. The solemn thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by His Lordship Bishop Barthol Barretto, Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay on Sunday 25th June 2017 at 10.00 am at St Theresa’s Church, Bandra. Besides the members of the Pauline Co-operators other members of the Pauline Family were present in large numbers for the celebration. The day was celebrated as Laity Sunday in the Church and in his homily the bishop stressed the need for active involvement of the laity and lay associations in the mission of the Church. He exhorted the Pauline co-operators to march ahead with the vision and mission of Blessed James Alberione to spread the gospel through the means of communication. Before the conclusion of the mass, there was a short power point presentation about the activities of the Pauline co-operators in Mumbai. The celebration marked the beginning of the Centenary Year of the Pauline Co-operators whose motto is “Wake up the world with the Light of the Gospel”.
