The New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), held for the past 50 years, is a major calendar event in the publishing world. NDWBF 2024 is being held from 10 to 18 February 2024 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Fair, spread out in five large Halls, and participated by over 1000 publishers and distributors, is organized by the National Book Trust of India (under the Ministry of Education, Government of India).
This year Fr Sajith Cyriac (General Editor) and Fr Siji Jose (St Pauls India) represented us in the fair. Fr Joe Eruppakatt from SPBC, Delhi, also joined them. The purpose of their visit was to renew contacts with some of our business partners and explore the possibilities of a potential partnership.
"It was an enriching experience to be at the Fair. We could see some of our books displayed at the fair by certain distributors. We need to resume our tradition of participating in the fair because of the visibility and contacts we are able to get.” says Fr Sajith.
Several activities such as storytelling sessions, workshops, panel discussions, interactive sessions, quizzes, contests, etc. are part of the fair. People come from far and wide in large numbers to visit the fair and pick the books of their choice. The newly designed Pragati Maidan has the look of a huge convention centre of international standards with exhibition pavilions, food courts, meeting halls amphitheaters, and fountains.
