Christmas Celebration in New Delhi Community

On 21 December the first group Carol Singers arrived at our Community. The Carol Singers came from our Parish, The Holy Spirit Church, Alaknanda. The Parish Church is located near to our House. The group consisted of the Parish Priest, the assistant Parish priest and many members of the Parish Community. The group departed after having wished every member of the Community Happy Christmas
On 22 December Carol Singers from the Syro-Malabar Parish came to wish us. There is a Church of the Syro-Malabar Rite near to our House and we have cordial relations with them. They came in large numbers to wish our Community. With loud beating of drums and melodious singing they brought much joy to our Community.

The Community of Delhi was ready for Christmas well in advance this year. The reason being that a domestic staff who helps Br Thomas in preparing the Crib and decorations was to leave for holidays before Christmas. Br Thomas and Fr Joe Eruppakkat visited Chandini Chowk in Old Delhi which is a specialized market for illuminations of every type. They were able to locate and purchase illuminations of the latest model. The space in-front of our Chapel facing the road was well lit and people passing stood and admired the lightings. A small Crib prepared outside the Chapel was visited by many. The high point of the Christmas celebration was the Midnight Mass which was anticipated to 9 PM. The Chapel was adorned with exotic flowers contributed by a benefactor. The Chapel and the Altar had a very solemn and festive look.
