JOURNALISM COURSE IN BHOPAL

Father Plavendran conducted a week-long journalism course for the students of Philosophy belonging to the SVD congregation in Bhopal. This course was held from 23 February to 3 March. In this course he taught them about the history of print journalism in India, the powers and functions of the Press Council of India and different aspects of media ethics to be kept in mind in writing news items. Students gladly received the ideas shared by Father Plavendran on various aspects of print journalism. The highlight of the course was that students were asked to cover the local events and get them edited by the lecturer and print it in the form of a newspaper. The students worked tirelessly to bring out the maiden issue of Vidya Bhavan Patrika. Together with this, all the students also got the glimpse of the newsroom of Dainik Bhaskar, the second largest Hindi daily in India. They thus got practical knowledge of how a newspaper is edited in the newsroom.
