The National Assembly of Signis India (World Catholic Organization for the promotion of the Audio-Visual Media Apostolate) was held at Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati, from 21 to 24 February 2018. There were about 130 participants from various parts of the country. The Society of Saint Paul was represented by Fathers Alfonso Elengikal (Director, Nescom) and Vincent Carmel (Director, Saint Pauls Multimedia). The first two study days of the Assembly, the members were apprised of the current trend and emerging challenges in the media today. The resource persons dealt with topics such as Social Media, Fake News, Internet Trolling, Cyber Crimes, Commercialization and Politicizing the Media, etc. On the third day the reports of the regions were presented followed by amendments to the Constitutions of Signis India being carried out and the elections of the office bearers for the next 3-year term held. On the fourth day, there took place an optional trip to the Kingdom of Bhutan. The meeting helped the members to know more closely the individuals and institutes related to the Audio-Visual Apostolate and it’s productions in the country.
