FILM MAKING WORKSHOP @ SPICE, MUMBAI

In collaboration with Deakin University, Australia, our partners in media education, ST PAULS INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATION EDUCATION (SPICE), Mumbai, conducted a program on film making workshop and integrated learning. 75 students from colleges across Mumbai along with their faculty attended this workshop. The session began with a prayer followed by a short presentation about SPICE. Dr. Dominic D’ Silva, the Director, with an inspiring message, welcomed the group. Fr. Renold Pascal, the Asst. Director, warmly introduced our speakers to the audience and the audience to the speakers. Kathryn Whitney, the Faculty Manager of Deakin University, spoke on ‘Work Integrated Learning’. This interactive session introduced the students to the understanding of what it means to be creative communication professionals in a constantly changing world. The second part of the program saw Simon Wilmot, well-known for his documentary work ‘Kotla Walks', from Film Faculty of Deakin University,  conducting a workshop on filmmaking.  At this workshop, working with Christopher Booker’s ‘The Seven Basic Plots’, Simon explored why there are a limited number of plot types and how we can understand the character arcs of films through these plot types. With popular Indian films for reference, Simon worked with the student participants to enhance their film making styles and learnings. David Das, the Associate Director-South Asia, Deakin University, shared a brief on the Masters of Communication Program, offered as credit pathway through our institute, highlighting the benefits of an internationally recognized degree in communication. Certificate of participation was issued to all the participants. The feedback from the visiting students and faculty indicate the success of the program.
