Rev Fr Valdir Jose De Castro, Superior General of the Society of St Paul, appointed Fr Varghese Gnalian the Provincial Superior of India-Nigeria-Great Britain-Ireland Province on 26th July 2017.
Fr Varghese Gnalian was born in Mookkannoor (Kerala, India) on 22 December 1955. He joined the Society of St Paul on 30th June 1974 in the community of Allahabad. He made his first religious profession on 30th June 1978 in the community of Bangalore. His perpetual profession was held in the community of New Delhi on 30th June 1985. At the completion of his Theology studies from Vidyajyothi (Delhi), he was ordained a priest on 17th January 1986.
Fr Varghese served the Province in various capacities: Vocation Promoter, Master of Aspirants (Bangalore, 1986-1990), Master of Juniors (Allahabad, 1990-1994), Provincial Councillor (1990-1994), Superior, Director of St Paul Book Centre, Director of Malayalam Publications (Ernakulam, 1994-2000), Director, Jeevandhara Book Centre (Vijayawada, 2000-2001), Superior (Mumbai, 2001-2003), Director of Formation (2003-2006), Superior (Chennai, 2005-2006), Provincial Superior (2006-2010), Director, St Paul Book & Art Centre (2011-2015), Superior (Bangalore, 2016-2017). He also offered his service as Editor of “Inspirational Quote”.
Fr Varghese is epitome of a calm and serene nature. He is a man of vision and inspires others to think big. He loves people and people in turn love him and hold him in high esteem. He is highly appreciated and valued for his pleasant and mature way of dealing with persons and situations. Above all, he loves the congregation and always wishes the good and growth of the congregation!
As he takes over the new responsibility as the principal animator of the province, we invoke God’s blessings upon him so that he may offer a faithful and fruitful service for the good of the Province.
