28 January 2017

Fr. Devasia Puthiyaparambil, the Director General, visited our apostolic centres at Vijayawada, Bengaluru and Ernakulam from 20th to 27th January 2017. While in Vijayawada, Fr. Devasia met Fr. Joseph Thulumpanmackel, the Director of Jeevandhara Book Centre, Fr. Joseph Tirkey who offers his valuable service at this Centre and the staff including the accountant who works part-time in the centre. The visit of the DGA to this centre was a customary one to see and to verify the way apostolate is carried out in this centre. The Director is happy with the way the book centre is functioning; he feels that he will be able to reach out to more people and diffuse our products better with the help of the community. The meeting with the staff enabled them to share their concerns with the DGA.

The visit to Bengaluru was focused to study the situation of St Pauls College. The DGA spent an hour with the teaching faculty of the College; the staff unanimously expressed their satisfaction about the way the college is functioning at present; Sr. Nirmala Joyce, the Principal of the College, gave valuable suggestions to reach out to more students in the coming years. The management too is happy with the way the college is functioning and the commitment of the staff, but expressed their deep concern about the future of the college unless the Director General and the Provincial Government give right orientation to the management of the college and think of immediately providing space for running more courses in the next academic year.

While in Ernakulam, the DGA spent a few hours to see the new structure (being constructed) adjoining the Book Centre and to approve certain minor modifications. It was also an occasion to see some of the artworks prepared to give a facelift to the Book Centre and to decide on the most appealing one.
